Moinhos do Dão is built slowly, by us and by the people who become involved with this place.

Friends and family have been part of Moinhos from the beginning. They come to visit and somehow end up carrying stones, painting a wall, cooking for a small crowd or planting another tree.

Volunteers their time, skills and energy. Guests support Moinhos simply by visiting. Some people choose to help from afar by contributing to a practical project.

And for anyone who would like to help from distance, there is also the possibility to contribute to a practical project.

Come and volunteer

We welcome volunteers who would like to become part of everyday life at Moinhos for a while. We are mainly looking for people who can stay for at least four weeks and enjoy a simple off-grid life in the forest. Find out more or join us through workaway.

    Many of the old buildings are still waiting to be restored. Your support helps us renovate them step by step, creating welcoming spaces for guests while preserving the character of the valley.
